André Alerme

André Alerme (1885–1960, France) was a French stage and film actor known for his work in over 60 films spanning the silent era through the mid-20th century. He gained prominence for character roles in classics such as Jean Renoir’s “The Rules of the Game” (1939), where he portrayed the Marquis de la Chesnaye, and the 1958 adaptation of “Les Misérables” as Gillenormand. Alerme’s career bridged theater and cinema, contributing to French cultural depictions of aristocracy and authority figures.
