Ben Carruthers

Ben Carruthers (1934–1983, United States/United Kingdom) was an American actor best known for his role as Ben in John Cassavetes’ independent film *Shadows* (1959), which earned him acclaim for his naturalistic performance. He appeared in supporting roles in films such as *The Young Savages* (1961) opposite Burt Lancaster and *The Leather Boys* (1964), a British drama exploring youth culture. Carruthers later relocated to Europe, where he continued acting in lesser-known productions until his death.
