Fernand Gravey

Fernand Gravey (1904–1970, Belgium/France) was a Belgian actor who appeared in over 70 films from the 1920s to the 1960s, primarily in French cinema but also in English-language productions. Born Fernand Mertens, he adopted the stage name Gravey and gained prominence in the 1930s with roles in films like *The Mad Doctor* (1940) and *Sylvia and the Ghost* (1945), showcasing his versatility in comedy and drama. He worked extensively in theater as well and was nominated for a Tony Award for his Broadway performance in *The Happiest Girl in the World* (1961).
