François Périer

François Périer (1919–2002, France) was a renowned French stage and screen actor, active from the 1930s through the late 1990s, appearing in over 110 films and numerous theater productions. He gained international recognition for roles in Jean Cocteau’s “Orpheus” (1950) and “The Testament of Orpheus” (1960), as well as in films by directors like Jean Renoir (“The Crime of Monsieur Lange,” 1936) and Luis Buñuel (“The Diary of a Chambermaid,” 1964). Périer received multiple accolades, including a BAFTA nomination and a César Award for Best Supporting Actor for “L’Argent des autres” (1978), and was celebrated for his elegant, versatile portrayals of complex characters.
