Jean-Louis Barrault

Jean-Louis Barrault (1910–1994, France) was a French actor, director, and mime artist renowned for his work in both theater and film. He achieved international acclaim for his role as the pantomime artist Baptiste in the classic film *Les Enfants du Paradis* (1945), directed by Marcel Carné, and was a leading figure in the Comédie-Française from 1940 to 1946. Barrault co-founded the Compagnie Renaud-Barrault with his wife Madeleine Renaud in 1946, directing influential productions and contributing significantly to post-war French cultural life.
