Jean Richard

Jean Richard (1921–2001, France) was a French actor, director, and producer known for his extensive work in film, theater, and television. He gained international recognition for portraying Inspector Jules Maigret in the long-running French television series *Les Enquêtes du commissaire Maigret* (1967–1997), based on Georges Simenon’s novels, appearing in over 80 episodes. Richard also starred in numerous films, including *Topaze* (1951) and *Nuit de Walpurgis* (1973), and was a prominent figure in French theater, directing operas and plays throughout his career.
