Mathieu Carrière

Mathieu Carrière (1945–Present, France) is a French actor renowned for his contributions to European cinema across film, television, and theater. He began his career as a child actor in the 1950s and rose to prominence in the 1970s with roles in acclaimed works by directors such as Rainer Werner Fassbinder, including “The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum” (1975), and Luchino Visconti in “L’Innocente” (1976). Over six decades, Carrière has appeared in more than 100 productions, often portraying complex intellectual or aristocratic characters, and continues to work in French, German, and international projects.
