Ovila Légaré

Ovila Légaré (1909–1965, Canada) was a French-Canadian actor, director, and producer known for his contributions to early Quebec cinema and theater. He appeared in over 30 films, including notable roles in *The Last Chance* (1945) and *The Mask of the Avenger* (1951), and directed several productions that helped establish the foundations of Quebecois film industry in the mid-20th century. Légaré’s work bridged stage acting and screen performance, making him a pivotal figure in promoting French-language Canadian entertainment during a period of cultural and linguistic challenges.
