Pierre Brasseur

Pierre Brasseur (1905–1972, France/Italy) was a French actor known for his work in stage and film during the mid-20th century. He gained prominence in poetic realist cinema, starring in Marcel Carné’s classics such as *Les Enfants du Paradis* (1945) and *Quai des Orfèvres* (1947), and collaborated with directors like Jean Renoir and René Clair. Brasseur’s versatile portrayals of complex, often tragic characters made him a key figure in French post-war theater and cinema.
