Ricardo Montalban

Ricardo Montalbán (1920–2009, Mexico/United States) was a Mexican actor who achieved stardom in Hollywood during the mid-20th century, appearing in over 60 films including “Border Incident” (1949) and “Escape from the Planet of the Apes” (1971). He became widely recognized for his role as the mysterious Mr. Roarke on the television series “Fantasy Island” (1977–1984) and for portraying the villainous Khan Noonien Singh in “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” (1982). Montalbán was a trailblazer for Latino actors in American media, founding the Nosotros Foundation to promote opportunities for ethnic minorities in the entertainment industry.
