Simone Signoret

Simone Signoret (1921–1985, Germany/France) was a French actress renowned for her intense and versatile performances in European and international cinema. She rose to prominence in the post-World War II French film industry with roles in films like Dédée d’Anvers (1948) and Casque d’or (1952), and achieved global acclaim for her Academy Award-winning portrayal of Alice Aisgill in Room at the Top (1958). Signoret continued to star in notable works such as Ship of Fools (1965) and The Sea Gull (1965), cementing her legacy as one of the 20th century’s most influential actresses.
