Abel Gance

Abel Gance (1889–1981, France) was a French film director, producer, and screenwriter renowned for his innovative contributions to early cinema. He pioneered techniques such as triptych screens and rapid montage in his epic silent film *Napoléon* (1927), which is considered one of the greatest achievements of the silent era. Gance’s work, including *J’accuse* (1919) and *La Roue* (1923), influenced generations of filmmakers and established him as a key figure in French cinematic history.
