Alfred Vohrer

Alfred Vohrer (1920–1984, Germany) was a German film director renowned for his contributions to the post-war crime thriller genre, particularly the Edgar Wallace adaptations produced by Rialto Film. He directed over 50 feature films between 1958 and 1982, including notable entries like *The Dead Eyes of London* (1961) and *The Forger of London* (1961), which helped popularize the krimi subgenre in West German cinema. Vohrer’s efficient, atmospheric style influenced the development of German suspense filmmaking during the 1960s and 1970s.
