Alfred Weidenmann

Alfred Weidenmann (1916–2000, Germany) was a German film director, screenwriter, and author. He directed numerous films during the postwar era, including the espionage thriller *Der Stern von Afrika* (1957) and *Buddenbrooks* (1959), and won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short for *Der Jugend* in his early career, though he is best remembered for his commercial feature films of the 1950s and 1960s.
