Giorgio Capitani

Giorgio Capitani (1927–2017, Italy) was an Italian film director, screenwriter, and assistant director. He began his career in the 1950s as an assistant to notable directors like Mario Camerini and Pietro Germi, later helming over 20 feature films, primarily spaghetti Westerns and adventure stories such as *The Avenger* (1964) and *The Last Gun* (1964). Capitani’s work contributed to the prolific output of Italian genre cinema during the 1960s and 1970s, often blending action with historical themes.
