Helma Sanders-Brahms

Helma Sanders-Brahms (1940–2014, Germany) was a German film director, screenwriter, and producer. She gained prominence in the New German Cinema movement with her autobiographical works exploring themes of women’s experiences during and after World War II, most notably the critically acclaimed “Germany, Pale Mother” (1980). Her films often blended personal narrative with historical reflection, establishing her as a key feminist voice in post-war German cinema.
