Jesús Franco (1930–2013, Spain) was a Spanish filmmaker, composer, and screenwriter renowned for his prolific output in exploitation, horror, and erotic cinema. He directed over 200 films between the 1950s and 2010s, frequently using pseudonyms like Jess Franco, and became a cult icon for his low-budget, surreal style blending sex, violence, and avant-garde elements. His work, including titles like Vampyros Lesbos (1971) and Female Vampire (1973), influenced underground European filmmaking despite critical dismissal during his lifetime.
