Marc Allégret

Marc Allégret (1900–1973, Switzerland/France) was a French film director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. He started his career assisting Jean Renoir on films like *Nana* (1926) and directed more than 30 features from 1931 to 1963, including *Gribouille* (1937) and *Entrée des artistes* (1938). Allégret is noted for his sophisticated adaptations of literary works and his influence on French cinema during the interwar period, often featuring collaborations with actors such as Pierre Blanchar and Danielle Darrieux.
