Peter Brook

Peter Brook (1925–present, United Kingdom) was a British theatre and film director, producer, and writer known for his innovative and experimental approach to both stage and screen. He directed notable films including Lord of the Flies (1963), an adaptation of William Golding’s novel, and Meetings with Remarkable Men (1979), based on G.I. Gurdjieff’s autobiography, while his theatre work, such as the landmark production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1970), influenced global performing arts. Brook founded the International Centre for Theatre Research in Paris in 1970, blending Eastern and Western traditions to redefine dramatic storytelling.
