Rafael Gil

Rafael Gil (1913–1986, Spain) was a Spanish film director and screenwriter. He directed more than 50 films between 1942 and 1985, specializing in historical dramas, religious epics, and adaptations of Spanish literary classics such as “El alcázar de Toledo” (1940) and “Réquiem por un campesino español” (1964). Gil was a key figure in Spanish cinema during the Franco era, often working with state support to produce patriotic and culturally significant works.
