Riccardo Freda

Riccardo Freda (1909–1999, Egypt/Italy) was an Italian film director, screenwriter, and producer. Renowned for his contributions to Italian horror and adventure cinema, he directed notable films such as *I Vampiri* (1957), considered one of the first Italian horror movies, and *The Horrible Dr. Hichcock* (1962), which helped pioneer the gothic horror genre in Italy. His prolific career spanned over 40 films from the 1940s to the 1970s, blending historical epics, peplum adventures, and supernatural thrillers.
