Roberto Rossellini

Roberto Rossellini (1906–1977, Italy) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. He is regarded as one of the founders of the Italian neorealist cinema movement, pioneering a style that emphasized realism and social issues through films like Rome, Open City (1945), Paisan (1946), and Germany, Year Zero (1948). His work influenced postwar European cinema and extended to collaborations with Ingrid Bergman in the 1950s.
