Satyajit Ray

Satyajit Ray (1921–1992, India) was an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and author renowned for his contributions to Bengali cinema. His debut film, Pather Panchali (1955), marked the beginning of his Apu Trilogy and earned him international acclaim, establishing him as a master of realistic storytelling that captured the nuances of everyday life in India. Over his career, Ray directed more than 30 films, received an honorary Academy Award in 1992, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of the 20th century.
