Viktor Tourjansky

Viktor Tourjansky (1891–1976, Russian Empire/West Germany) was a Russian-born film director, screenwriter, and actor who began his career in Soviet Russia before emigrating to Germany and France. He directed over 50 films from the silent era through the mid-20th century, including notable works like the German expressionist film *Der weiße Teufel* (1929) and the French drama *Volga en flammes* (1937). Tourjansky is recognized for his contributions to European cinema during the interwar period and under the Nazi regime in Germany, blending influences from Russian and Western filmmaking styles.
