The Story:
On Christmas Eve in Paris, talented but penniless singer Christine (Édith Piaf) and her nine loyal musician friends (Les Compagnons de la Chanson) huddle together in poverty, ironically singing of France’s wealth while facing starvation on a night of celebration.
Seeking salvation, Christine approaches her uncle Victor (Lucien Baroux) at the flashy Montmartre nightclub “Le Paradis” but is harshly rejected by its director (Marcel Vallée), leaving the group in utter despair.
In a heavenly dream she ascends with her nine boys to perform swing-infused numbers to angelic acclaim, only to awaken as a miracle patron grants them a real contract, triumphantly singing “La Vie en Rose” toward a bright future.
