The Story:

In the bustling heart of Paris, the flamboyant director Robert Dhéry (Robert Dhéry) prepares his latest revue at the Folies-Méricourt theater, “Ah! Les belles bacchantes,” a spectacle promising dazzling dances and sultry songs starring the enchanting Bluebell Girls, while shy aspiring dancer Colette (Colette Brosset) stumbles into rehearsals, her clumsy charm catching the eye of the troupe amid the chaos of last-minute preparations.

As opening night looms, comedic catastrophes ensue: the glamorous costumes fail to arrive, forcing the bacchantes into a hilarious “No-Dress” parade in their underwear; a bumbling plumber (Raymond Bussières) battles his furiously jealous wife who storms the theater to spy on him amid the scantily clad dancers; and police inspector Leboeuf infiltrates the wings to probe the show’s morality, turning every musical number—like the beachy “Musical Cabin Doors” game and the surreal “Dancing Monks” finale with bell-ringing friars—into a whirlwind of farce and frenzy.

Will Colette’s heartfelt bungles win the night, or will the plumber’s domestic drama and the law’s prying eyes derail the revelry? Bursting with vintage French flair, “Ah! Les belles bacchantes” delivers a riotous blend of vaudeville hijinks, toe-tapping tunes, and tantalizing temptresses that’ll leave you laughing and longing for an encore in this 1954 comedic gem!
