The Story:

In the uproarious call-up days of World War II, three unlikely comrades—cheeky Skimpy (Hal Monty), romantic Tommy (Max Bygraves), and sturdy Jock—meet at the medical and are thrown together into the same ragtag army unit, where they butt heads from the start with their stern, short-fused Sergeant Willis (Les Ritchie) during grueling training camp antics and chaotic cookhouse capers.

As the unit ships out to France amid the thunder of the Battle of France, romantic sparks fly and fizzle hilariously: Tommy woos enchanting ENSA singer Val, only to learn she’s smitten with Sergeant Willis; later, Skimpy falls for alluring local Lisette, unaware she’s the Sergeant’s old flame, turning barracks life into a battlefield of jealousy and mix-ups.

Against the tense backdrop of the 1940 retreat and the war’s relentless march, this merry band of misfits reunites on French soil for non-stop laughs, proving that even in the foxholes, love, loyalty, and lunacy conquer all—don’t miss this uproarious salute to the lads who blessed ’em all!
