The Story:
In Abilene Kansas rugged cowboy Steve Daley [Guy Madison] sits falsely convicted of murder and sentenced to hang until corrupt Judge Carr [Don Beddoe] offers a pardon if he blindly marries mystery heiress Julia Cheyenne O’Malley [Rhonda Fleming] the buckskin-clad daughter of a fur trader and Indian princess to claim her inheritance.
Unbeknownst to Steve the union is a trap as the judge hires hitman Slow Karp [James Griffith] to kill him while rival trader John Parnell [Peter Adams] schemes to seize the freight business forcing Steve to track Cheyenne’s wagon train where she horsewhips him and battles his authority amid double-crosses and tribal dangers.
Amidst the perilous trail this CinemaScope Western erupts with whip-cracking passion corporate greed and Shakespearean taming of the shrew as love ignites between the defiant heiress and her framed husband in a storm of frontier intrigue.
