The Story:
In the quaint town of Eschenbach the dreaded Robber Hotzenplotz (Gert Fröbe) sneaks into Grandmother’s garden steals her beloved musical coffee grinder and leaves the inept Sergeant Alois Dimpfelmoser too scared to act forcing young friends Kasperl and Seppel to set their own trap.
The boys’ sand-filled gold box lures the robber into an ambush where swapped hats send Kasperl into the mountain castle of the gluttonous wizard Petrosilius Zwackelmann to peel endless potatoes while Seppel endures harsh servitude at the forest lair.
With the aid of enchanted fairy Amaryllis a magical ring and three wishes the lads outwit both villains topple the crumbling castle and deliver Hotzenplotz to justice for a triumphant celebration of plum cake in this whimsical 1974 children’s fantasy-comedy.
