The Story:
In the frozen isolation of an island encircled by the icy grip of the St. Lawrence River, old François Godefroy (Ovila Légaré), a steadfast guardian of his ancestral estate and unyielding traditions, clashes with his wayward son Gaston (Réjean Lefrançois), a restless youth more enamored with revelry than roots, as the harsh winter tests their fragile bond.
As land speculators circle like wolves, eager to claim the family’s land for modern exploitation, François battles to preserve his heritage against the tide of progress, while Gaston’s disdain for the old ways ignites a fierce generational rift, drawing in loyal friend Noël Boisjoli (Jacques Godin) into the fray of betrayal and unyielding pride.
Amid swirling snowstorms and a landscape as unforgiving as the passions it unleashes, this tale of father and son spirals toward a heart-wrenching tragedy, where love for the land demands the ultimate sacrifice—dare you witness the storm of a family’s soul in ‘In the Name of the Son’?
