The Story:
In the glittering yet unforgiving cabarets of 1920s Paris, ambitious Caprice (Suzy Delair), daughter of a humble furniture maker, chases her dream of stardom amid endless rejections, until her guardian angel, the eccentric anarchist photographer Bagnolet (Louis Jouvet), urges her to charm a hit song from her stormy ex-lover, composer Jeff (Henri Guisol).
But jealousy brews as the reigning cabaret king Arsène Marval (Raymond Souplex) and a spiteful Jeff sabotage her with a notorious “cursed” tune meant to doom her career—yet when Caprice defiantly belts it out at the Olympia Theatre, her sassy spirit turns the tide, crowning her “Lady Paname” in a whirlwind of applause while Marval’s fortunes plummet.
