The Story:
In 1615 France under young King Louis XIII, bold Gascon Adhémar de Capestang (Jean Pâqui) nicknamed Le Capitan arrives in Paris and rescues beautiful Gisèle d’Angoulême (Claude Génia) from kidnappers while battling tyrant Marshal Concino Concini (Pierre Renoir)’s henchmen terrorizing nobles.
Appointed champion to protest the Florentine grip, Capestang saves the King’s life from an assassination plot yet refuses to join the Duke of Angoulême’s treasonous rebellion against the crown despite his love for Gisèle.
Trapped between rival factions Capestang wields sword and wit in swashbuckling court intrigue until Concini’s reign crumbles restoring order and winning Gisèle’s hand in this thrilling 1946 adventure.
