The Story:
In the dazzling lights of Paris, celebrated tenor Miguel Morano (Luis Mariano) refuses to headline a grand operetta in Mexico, paralyzed by fear of his scorned ex-lover Tornada (Tilda Thamar), who vows deadly revenge for his betrayal; enter desperate impresario Cartoni, who discovers humble Basque singer Vincent Etchebar (Luis Mariano), Morano’s spitting image with a voice to match, and recruits him for the high-stakes impersonation.
Accompanied by steadfast friend Bilou (Bourvil), Vincent ventures to the City of Light, where they toil as painters atop the Eiffel Tower and he falls for the enchanting flower girl Cri-Cri (Annie Cordy); but upon arriving in steamy Mexico, the ruse ignites chaos as Tornada pursues her supposed prey, hilariously abducting Bilou by mistake, while Vincent juggles affections between glamorous co-star Eva Marchal and his true love Cri-Cri in a whirlwind of mistaken identities and romantic entanglements.
