The Story:
In a vibrant Romani encampment along the Danube, beautiful Anika (Madeleine Sologne) is torn between her true love for poor gypsy Sandor (José Noguéro) and the lavish attentions of wealthy outsider Féry (Raymond Segard).
When Féry is found murdered, Sandor is accused and flees into exile, but Anika refuses to abandon him and turns to wise fortune-teller Maria (Marguerite Moreno) whose tarot visions help uncover the real killer.
With innocence proven the lovers reunite in Budapest, vowing to roam free together in this timeless 1940 tale of passion and redemption from directors Emil E. Reinert and Alfred Rode.
