The Story:
In the bustling heart of Los Angeles, honest bank teller Mike Donovan (Barry Sullivan) faces a nightmare when sly con man Herman Tate (Don Beddoe), disguised as a bank examiner, pilfers $49,900 from his cash drawer during a moment of distraction, shattering Donovan’s orderly life forever.
Desperate to rectify what he believes is a mere accounting slip, Donovan delays reporting the theft, only to become the prime suspect; relentless insurance investigator Gus Slavin (Charles McGraw) launches a merciless crusade, stripping Donovan of his career, home, and even the faith of his loyal wife Ruth (Dorothy Malone), as he bounces from dead-end jobs only to be hounded and fired at every turn.
