The Story:
In the quaint corners of West Germany, meet Sofie, a sturdy butcher’s widow chafing under her son Schorsch’s (Friedrich W. Bauschulte) overbearing grip on her life and savings, and Marianne, the flamboyant ex-circus star “Anastasia” who thrives in her ramshackle caravan amid a menagerie of a giant snake, a squawking macaw, and three harmonizing hounds, much to the dismay of her straitlaced son Willi.
Trouble brews when Schorsch uncovers Sofie’s secret aid of meat scraps to Marianne’s pets, igniting his fury, while Willi, in a bid for bureaucratic bliss, dynamites his mother’s beloved home, thrusting the duo into chaos and forcing them to confront the suffocating shackles their children have imposed.
But hark! From the ashes rises “Oldie Power”—a uproarious alliance of two silver-haired rebels unleashing wit, whimsy, and wild defiance against societal chains, promising laughs, heart, and a triumphant toast to living free in this 1983 comedy-drama gem directed by Rainer Söhnlein, aka Zwei ausgeflippte Omas.
