The Story:
In the vibrant world of 1955 West Germany, young composer Karl Zimmermann (Walter Giller), a staunch devotee of Beethoven and classical symphonies, tutors the spirited Anni Pichler (Inge Egger), whose heart beats to the wild rhythms of modern jazz; their fiery musical debates spark an unlikely romance, leading to a whirlwind marriage filled with harmonious passion and discordant tunes.
A year later, Karl pours his soul into a grand traditional symphony, only to face crushing rejection from publisher Berndorff, who deems it outdated; in a bold move, Anni, aided by her charming friend Maurice (Claus Biederstaedt), secretly transforms the masterpiece into a sizzling “Rhapsody in Jazz,” using her irresistible charisma to sway Berndorff into publishing it, igniting Karl’s fury when he discovers the “desecration” of his work.
