The Story:
In the bustling heart of Paris, young house painter Pilou (Bourvil), fresh from his village and pining for his fiancée Yvette (Suzy Delair), scales the heights of a grand apartment building to repaint its facade, his scaffold becoming an unwitting spyglass into the intimate lives of its quirky tenants.
From his dangling perch, Pilou spies the beautiful Fernande (Suzy Delair), a heartbroken tenant whose uncanny resemblance to Yvette stirs his soul; learning her lover Albert plans to wed another, Pilou can’t resist intervening, meddling in Fernande’s woes and the tangled romances of neighbors like the stern owner Alavoine (André Alerme) and the lovely Renée Laforest (Michèle Philippe), turning chaos into comedy with his well-meaning schemes.
