The Story:
In the quaint farmlands of Normandy, simple yet shrewd farmer Léon Ménard (Bourvil) journeys to the glittering city to visit his prosperous industrialist uncle, Henri Ménard (Albert Duvaleix), only to be met with sneers and mockery from his uncle’s snobbish high-society entourage who dismiss him as a bumbling country bumpkin.
But beneath Léon’s rustic facade lies a razor-sharp mind; he uncovers a web of deceit spun by greedy opportunists, including a scheming singer (Mona Goya) and her lover plotting to wed her to Uncle Henri for his vast fortune, and the bankrupt Count of Bellemont forcing his son Didier (Bernard Lancret) into a loveless match with Henri’s daughter Nicole (Suzy Carrier) to salvage his crumbling aristocracy—prompting Léon to cleverly sabotage their ploys and expose their vanities in uproarious confrontations.
