The Story:
In 18th-century Transylvania a mob drowns the monstrous witch Vardella despite a professor’s plea for exorcism, prompting her curse of bloody revenge on their descendants; two centuries later honeymooners Philip (Ian Ogilvy) and Veronica (Barbara Steele) arrive at a seedy inn run by Ladislav Groper (Mel Welles) and receive a dire warning from Count Von Helsing (John Karlsen) as the 200th anniversary nears.
Veronica’s car plunges into the lake, her body seized and transformed into the snaggle-toothed She Beast (Joe “Flash” Riley) who rampages through descendants, forcing Philip and Von Helsing to sedate the creature, steal her from police autopsy, and race the clock for a lakeside ritual.
In a frantic gothic horror-comedy climax the exorcism restores Veronica’s face yet as the couple drives away her camera stare twists into Vardella’s sinister grin, leaving the curse’s grip teasingly unresolved in Michael Reeves’ 1966 debut The She Beast.
