The Story:

In the wild frontiers of 1818 Alabama, rugged Kentucky militiaman John Breen (John Wayne), fresh from the triumphs of the War of 1812, marches homeward only to stumble upon a vibrant community of Napoleonic French exiles granted land by Congress, where he instantly falls head over heels for the enchanting Fleurette de Marchand, the spirited daughter of a proud French general.

Determined to win her heart, Breen musters out to court Fleurette, but discovers she’s betrothed to the suave yet scheming Blake Randolph, a powerful businessman whose alliance promises to safeguard the settlers—until Breen and his bumbling yet loyal sidekick Willie Paine (Oliver Hardy) unearth the treacherous plot: Randolph is in cahoots with sly land shark George Hayden to pilfer the exiles’ territory by slyly shifting boundary markers, forcing Breen to disguise himself as a surveyor and dive into a web of deception and danger.

Brace for a pulse-pounding saga of frontier justice, where fists fly, rifles crack, and old regiments rally in epic skirmishes to foil the villains, culminating in a heroic showdown that frees a true love amid the thunder of battle—don’t miss this rousing tale of courage, romance, and the unyielding American spirit!
