The Story:
In the Eternal City of Rome, naive newlywed Wanda (Brunella Bovo), a romantic soul from the provinces, embarks on her honeymoon with fastidious Ivan (Leopoldo Trieste), whose rigid plans include a papal audience; but Wanda’s obsession with the dashing “White Sheik” from her beloved fotoromanzi leads her to sneak away in search of the star, portrayed by the vain Fernando Rivoli (Alberto Sordi).
As Wanda is whisked to a sun-drenched beach photoshoot, only to discover her idol as a pathetic philanderer dominated by his shrewish wife, Ivan faces mounting panic, fabricating excuses to his stern family—including a Vatican-connected uncle—to cover her absence, his hysteria peaking as night falls and he roams the streets in desperate search.
A whimsical clash of illusion and reality unfolds in Federico Fellini’s sparkling romantic comedy, where dreams shatter like fragile fantasies, yet a chance encounter with the warm-hearted streetwalker Cabiria (Giulietta Masina) offers a flicker of solace amid the city’s intoxicating chaos—will love survive the honeymoon’s hilarious misadventures?
