The Story:
Five years after his beloved wife Catherine (Danielle Darrieux) abandoned him, humble publicist Jean Brévent (Bourvil) catches a glimpse of her on a Paris bus and learns she’s now with his old war comrade Robert Sartori (Roger Hanin); consumed by longing, Jean hatches an audacious scheme, posing as a prosperous agency director with the aid of his landlady Juliette (Arletty) and her daughter’s brash beau Patrick (Jean-Paul Belmondo), inviting Catherine to a lavish Sunday at a borrowed country villa to rekindle their flame.
