The Story:

In the mist-shrouded valleys of 13th-century Switzerland, under the iron fist of the cruel Austrian governor Hermann Gessler (Paul Muller), the peaceful hunter William Tell (Gino Cervi) lives a simple life with his family, while whispers of romance stir between Rudens (Aldo Nicodemi) and Berta (Monique Orban), and forbidden love blooms between Arnold and the Austrian princess Mathilde (Allegra Sander), all amid the growing unrest in the oppressed Swiss cantons.

When Tell boldly refuses to bow to Gessler’s tyrannical symbol—a hat perched on a pole— the governor exacts a deadly punishment, forcing the marksman to shoot an apple from the head of his young son Gualtiero (Enrico Olivieri) with his crossbow; Tell’s arrow splits the fruit true, but he reveals a second bolt meant for Gessler himself if harm befell the boy, leading to his arrest and a perilous voyage across storm-tossed Lake Lucerne.

Seizing a moment amid the raging tempest, Tell leaps to freedom on a rocky shore, later ambushing and slaying the despot Gessler to ignite a fierce Swiss rebellion that sweeps the land, restoring liberty in an epic tale of courage, defiance, and the unyielding spirit of a nation’s fight for freedom—will Tell’s arrow pierce the chains of oppression forever?
