André Cayatte (1909–1989, France) was a French film director, screenwriter, and former lawyer who transitioned to cinema in the 1940s. He gained prominence for his socially and legally themed films, such as *Justice est faite* (1950) and *Nous sommes tous des assassins* (1952), which critically examined the French justice system and earned international acclaim, including a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
