Jean Delannoy

Jean Delannoy (1908–2008, France) was a French film director and screenwriter. Active from the 1930s through the 1980s, he directed over 40 films, often adapting literary works such as André Gide’s *La Symphonie pastorale* (1946), for which he won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. Delannoy is recognized for his contributions to classical French cinema, blending humanism and visual elegance in works like *Le Notti de Dieu* (1947) and the miniseries *Les Rois maudits* (1972).
