Wes Craven

Wes Craven (1939–2015, United States) was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He rose to prominence in the horror genre with his 1972 debut feature *The Last House on the Left*, which established his reputation for blending graphic violence with social commentary. Craven achieved mainstream success with the creation of the *A Nightmare on Elm Street* (1984) and *Scream* (1996) franchises, revitalizing slasher films and influencing generations of filmmakers.
