The Story:
The Carter family—patriarch Bob, matriarch Ethel, their adult children Bobby, Brenda, and Lynne, Lynne’s husband Doug, and baby Katie—travels through the Nevada desert with German Shepherds Beauty and Beast, stopping at Fred’s remote gas station before Bob insists on a dirt road shortcut that strands their station wagon in a restricted military range.
Night brings savage attack by Papa Jupiter’s inbred cannibal clan—sons Mars, Mercury, Pluto, and abused daughter Ruby—who slay Beauty, crucify and burn Bob, murder Ethel and Lynne, brutalize Brenda, and kidnap Katie, forcing the survivors to abandon civilization for primal revenge with Beast’s aid in killing Mercury and Pluto via booby trap.
Amid cave pursuit where Ruby rebels to save the baby, Doug overpowers Mars in vengeful frenzy as the screen fades on his bloodlust-consumed face, teasing raw 1970s horror of savagery unleashed.
