Wilhem Thiele

Wilhelm Thiele (1890–1975, Austria) Wilhelm Thiele was an Austrian film director active during the silent and early sound eras, directing over 60 films primarily in Germany and Austria. He gained international acclaim for his 1931 musical comedy Der Kongress tanzt (The Congress Dances), one of the most successful German films of the early 1930s, which featured Lilian Harvey and Willy Fritsch. Later in his career, Thiele worked in Hollywood, directing films like The Flame Within (1935) for MGM, before returning to Europe after World War II.
