Henri Jeanson

Henri Jeanson (1900–1970, Spain/France) was a French screenwriter, film critic, and occasional director. He is best known for his witty and socially incisive screenplays for films such as *Pépé le Moko* (1937), *La Grande Illusion* (1937), and *Hôtel du Nord* (1938), which contributed significantly to the poetic realism movement in French cinema. As a director, he helmed a few early works, including *L’Homme de nulle part* (1937), though his primary legacy lies in writing.
